It is close but we are still an island.

Sadly not shocked by this but having a PE firm own the app that I use every flight is a bit worrisome.

After the Young Eagles rally I had some time and decided to fly around a little. I got a ram mount for my yoke and wanted to test it a bit (I like it a lot more than having the ipad on my thigh). I also "suffered" a little spontaneous disassembly of my air vent and had to wait until I was back on the ground to mess with it.
Overall, a nice flight seeing things starting to turn green.
A successful Young Eagles rally at 79C this morning! The clouds lifted and we had four aircraft going. I flew 8 total and all 8 had never been on a small plane before. It was a challenging crosswind at Brennand since the runway isn't very wide, but I had some great landings.
I completed another page of my paper log book from September of last year through early April. I love to celebrate completing a page as it feels like progress (and the pages keep stacking up).
I did 12 flights over this time with 22.2 hours and 33 landings. I now have 338.3 total hours and 601 landings!
I am ready to start participating in some Young Eagles flights and share the adventure with others.
My proposal to the board to do four Fly Outs this year, with me as the flight leader, has been approved! EAA 41 is officially doing Fly Outs again! First up is May 25th, heading to Portage, WI (C47) to support EAA 371 chapter 's pancake breakfast and car show. They've recently had to fight to keep their airport open and that's a cause I can get behind. If you're in the area, come say hello (and show your support)!

I accomplished some flying.
Does anyone know of a pilot looking for a partner in a high performance #airplane or twin such a Bonanza, Barron, Seneca, DA-42, Malibu in the #KMSN area?

Complete Walkaround did their yearly breakdown of top selling aircraft. Not really any surprises here other than one that did not make the list. Only 2 Beechcraft Barrons were made last year... 2. WOW.
Well looks like the #FAA is planning on killing off Flight Service Stations (FSS) and their associated Remote Communication Outlets (RCO).
Truthfully I am not shocked. I have not used FSS as a private #pilot for… a long time.

It appears that since recently I'm sitting more often in the right seat. No matter if as PAX or PIC
And I tried and compared the A/C with the shortest and with the longest wingspan of our fleet.
Roll rate, stability and the relation of speed and lift are interesting
Our BZF Theory Class Session afterwards was also good fun. Just a few students this time but they seemed happy, I can tell.

Since I cant to long form here, I took a screenshot of the flight from last night.
@ikluft I experienced that during departure from AERO 2015 in Friedrichshafen EDNY. ATIS gives you all the instructions: Do not initiate radio contact with tower. They will call you when you taxi by the temporary AERO Tower shack.

In my efforts to plan a fly-out for my EAA chapter I made a spreadsheet of events with times, dates, distances, and ranked things based on availability, runway type, and so on. I specifically looked up every EAA chapter in Wisconsin to try and see what events they might be having and I think for our first fly-out I am going to propose we go support EAA Chapter 371 for their Pancake Breakfast and Car Show at C47 on May 25th.
If any of you are Wisconsin (or like long XCs) pilots I hope you'll drop in too and we can chat airplanes.

#AERO2025 in #Friedrichshafen activated my account for #slot booking this night at 4am local.
I can handle that. Unfortunately there were some errors and the system took some hours to be functional. Anyway, got my slot!
But I really have to consider if I like to do this any longer, as prices skyrocket!
That's 133 € including one ticket for the trade fair and if weather doesn't cooperate I am still stuck with 42 €. For nothing. Ok, we'll divide everything by two, as always, but still.
Anyway, going to an #AeroSpace event that takes place at an #Airport (#EDNY) by land is out of the question!

My night flight was a success. Launched shortly after sunset and flew to Wausau (KAUW) and past the ski hills. Then a jaunt back with a 30 knot tailwind making the return trip a lot faster.
