VeraCrypt is disk encryption software.

Create virtual encrypted disk within a file.
Encrypt entire partition of storage device.

Decrypted data stored in RAM.

Access encrypted data via Linux/macOS/Windows.

Supports cipher cascades: veracrypt.fr/en/Cascades.html
Supports on-the-fly encryption: wikipedia.org/wiki/Disk_encryp
Supports plausible deniability: veracrypt.fr/en/Plausible%20De

Anyone know of a good tutorial to add #Veracrypt/#Luks to an existing install of #Debian/#Proxmox that does NOT require formatting a device and creating partitions on it?

I'm looking for something that can self encrypt existing drives (whole) like how Veracrypt works on Windows with full disk encryption.

And no - I'm not interested in encrypting specific VMs, i want the whole thing to be encrypted as the physical Hypervisor will reside in an untrusted location.

I feel like the goal posts shifted, but yes, full disk encryption is possible when selecting "Something else"/manual partitioning.

It is an advanced topic, and quite involved, so unless you already know what you're doing, or enjoy spending time figuring things out the hard way, I'd recommend an easier route: Install #LinuxMint with no encryption, then use #VeraCrypt to set up full disk encryption.

As for me, I'll give the new #Fedora 41 a spin, it sounds polished!
