A little UI I made for a checklist app that works nicely. The pie-chart is a conic-gradient with the start and end colors sharing the same degrees which makes a hard edge.

Unfortunately, at this time, you can't animate a conic-gradient value in CSS.

🚨 A patch for the GUI scaling article is incoming!

Check out the new section that covers a workaround for built-in controls! Styleboxes and 9-patch textures are still in need of a solution, but icons — icons are simple to fix now 😎

Lesson 1 in #UIUX... your buttons should not be moving targets. Especially if they're toggles.

Look at how if I toggle on "Transactions" and then toggle it off, I am no longer in the bounds of that button. TF?!

I have a feeling this was designed for touch and touch only. It wouldn’t matter there because you lift your finger after tapping…

I know, I know, I pick on Apple UI the most. But here's another UI/UX absolute NO-NO.

Notice how the control for Mail Categories changes form and size & not only that, but also changes the sizing of my column.

No control should change your window's layout based on its state. That's just a big no-no.

Also I don't like how the "All Mail" button hides when it isn't the active state. Why? People will think of this as a segmented control and segmented controls don't behave this way.

Wieso fällt es Behörden so schwer, ein Portal zu bauen, welches die Menschen ereignisorientiert abholt?

Hier ein paar Beispiele:
Die Arbeitsagentur könnte fragen: "Was ist passiert?"
- Job verloren
- ...

Finanzamt könnte fragen: "Was haben Sie vor?"
- Selbstständig machen
- ...

Das wäre eine völlig andere #UIUX

1. Clear distinction of the titlebar so the user knows exactly where they can drag the window from.
2. Visual affordance handle to resize the sidebar.
3. The perfect use of bottom bars!!!
4. Sidebar is a single color and not distracting with translucent material behind it.
5. Buttons look like actual, press-able, tactile even buttons.
6. Search bar is clearly a search bar with round endcaps.
7. Color icons!!!

MastodonBen Scheirman (@bens@mastodon.xyz)Attached: 1 image @marioguzman@mastodon.social did you ever use The Hit List? It was soooo good.

Cultured Code's Things app used to be one of those shining examples, good-Mac-citizen apps. The UI and UX was just *chef’s kiss*. The icons and design would make you think 2010 Apple designed it.

I miss when we had a good visual distinction between user content and UI belonging to the app. Not all types of content needs to "blend" with your app's UI. A computer is still a tool at the end of the day, not just something to sit there and look pretty.
