#ChatGPT & Co seem to make research easier. But in reality, they fuel the publish-or-perish race, push admins to demand more papers, more grants, more outputs, erode the very idea of scholarly work:

Embrace slow #science – quality over quantity.
Resist AI-driven academic exploitation – don’t let universities use #AI to push researchers harder.
Reclaim meaningful #scholarship – real discussions, critical thinking, true collaboration.

@ChrisMayLA6 I believe the term being used in policy is Digital Sovereignty. The EU seems to be pushing heavily into this topic. There are now ongoing studies about the need to reclaim sovereignty back from large IT corporations. This topic has quickly gone from “fancy that” to “it’s going down” in just a short while.
I am currently working on a draft chapter I hope to publish in a book about postdigital politics next year. Hopefully by then we will all have a better ideas of how firmly nations and institutions are willing to push back against corporate overreach and plain old enshitification. #postdigital #digitalsovereignty

»Poetics of Encryption« is an eerie group exhibition about the dark sides of our digital present - until 26 May at KW Berlin:

the large-scale diagrams of »Calculating Empires« by @Katecrawford & Vladan Joler are particularly impressive! they offer a seemingly synoptic, yet highly detailed view of communication and control since the middle ages! i kinda wished there was an interactive / narrated version à la flowchart.bettercatastrophe.co
