The Madison Public Library made a tool to estimate the value you get out of your public library: https://www.madisonpubliclibrary.org/about/value
I guess it's specific to the Madison library, but I think the estimate is good for any US-based public library.
For my own usage, it tells me that for every tax dollar I pay that goes to the library, I get $10.63 in value. What a deal!
(Coincidentally, my family does a monthly donation to the Friends of the Verona Public Library fund...of $10!)

One of the reasons I picked the city I live in: no billboards in the downtown core.

It’s been a wonderful first half-day in #MadisonWI. We got to check out some of the old stomping grounds from our time in graduate school 25 years ago, especially State Street and the Capitol Square. We spent some time at the #Wisconsin #IceCube Particle #Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) and met with colleagues of ours there. It’s good to be in our academic home, where we first met.
I am excited for @jodi’s #colloquium in the #Physics Department tomorrow afternoon!
First #RUSA #RandonneursUSA permanent ride yesterday. Only 105 km for the route, but a) with tons of climbing and b) 10 kilometers to get to the start. It's good to be back on the bike.
