Hmm. The referenced preprint doesn''t understand the #quantum uncertainty at all; "zero point energy" is merely a sometimes useful hidden-variable-like approximation, and not a true feature of QM (since it can give wrong answers). You only get randomness falling out of QM once you start adding approximations.
I prefer the Seth Lloyd style of making *operational* judgements about (apparent) #freewill not idealised philosophical ones.
Let's take survival off the table and imagine a world where people really do have free will.
Philosophers typically create circular arguments. They try to create a framework for society to live by while recognizing that true happiness lies in freedom. Thry end up creating rigid structures because they believe protection and control are necessary. We either give up or we give up protection and control. I believe we have to give up the latter.
Does God want goodness or the choice of goodness? Is a man who chooses to be bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him?

Today, I realized we've suffered yet another defeat in the ongoing struggle against metadata centralization by #Cloudflare. They now wield control over who can access WHOIS data for the .org TLD, by effectively censoring it.
This is a significant blow to #human_rights, #democracy, #freedom, #freespeech, and #freewill. It's alarming that a single company holds such power over crucial data that impacts the global community, all in a bid to strip away our last remnants of metadata and manipulate us while safeguarding their own interests. Cloudflare's actions are nothing short of a violation of our human rights and a threat to our collective freedom.
