If you are a climate activist, or anyone concerned about keeping oil in the ground in Canada the most important riding for the environment in this election and in Canada is probably Skeena - Bulkley Valley.

If the CPC and Conservative Ellis Ross wins -- he's a long time, oil soaked, climate denying, and divisive former First Nations leader and BC MLA -- expect them to lift the West Coast tanker ban and start another climate war like Clayoquot and Fairy Creek.

With Oil prices crashing — putting expensive US/Canadian oil supply at risk — and tariff hit consumers likely causing a recession in the world’s largest economies, could Donald Trump be the best thing to happen for CO2 emissions, and the transition to renewables, since the pandemic?

Only if the rest of the (sane) world takes the opportunity to double down on renewable energy.

Den fossilen Energiekonzernen geht es ja auch nicht um die Versorgung der Bevölkerung mit Energie,sondern treibendes Element sind die enormen Profite die sie erwirtschaften können,dabei versperrt ihnen Gewinnsucht die Verantwortung gegenüber zukünftige Generationen

Just to get an idea of the scale of the disaster this *one* LNG terminal represents:

If built to capacity, this facility will export up to 28 Million Tonnes of LNG per year.

It is expected to produce 0.15 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of LNG. (source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNG_Cana)

That's 4.2 Million tonnes of CO2 per year.

BC's total emissions in 2022 were 65.5 million tonnes.

So this one facility will increase by 6% the total CO2 emissions of the province. Meanwhile, that doesn't count the CO2 of the exported LNG itself when it is used.

I guess the rest of us just have to work harder at reducing emissions so the poor LNG company (Shell et al) can have their profits!
