After writing this post, I almost plopped a inexpensive Turkish spindle in my bag in case this really does happen and I want to leave the spindle and some fiber with someone, but then I thought, no, not quite yet. First bobbin full of the Gulf Coast Native fleece is finally spun up. I dyed it with a combo of coffee and butternut hulls. I still have a lot left to spin - I bought an entire fleece. It will eventually take the form of cozy sweaters.
Absolutely no idea how I got from "let's stitch something easy with no thinking required this weekend" as of last night, to digging out this old (somewhat hated) project as my #24hocs plan, but here we are.
This is my starting point on the Gamer SAL from PixStitch that was a charity thing from 2021, honestly not sure if it's still available or not but it's pretty cool.
Spent the first of my 24 hours just prepping, getting it into the frame, manually adding 90-odd colours to Pattern Keeper. And then started hour two by doing 4 stitches then immediately frogging them.
This bodes well

Once again, somehow, it's 24 Hours of Cross Stitch this weekend. Feels like about five minutes since the last one and I'm exhausted before we even start, but then my sense of time has never exactly been great.
My plan was to try a stamped kit for the first time, since a friend recently destashed one at me. But I opened it just now to take a photo and it turns out to not be stamped at all!
Back to the drawing board, I'm sure I can find something else to keep me occupied all weekend

I got a book from the local library today about weaving because I think that would be a fun thing to learn.
And now I looked at the second-hand place, and in MY VILLAGE someone is selling a 18th century original loom.... thick oak wood, everything.

Avoided it, ever since I started knitting again. The whole knit then purl skip stitch then purl the knit but leave on needle then go between then whaaat? All with a tapestry needle.
Proud to say a. I did it, and b. It really does look good. I love the way there is basically no edge, stitches just disappear into the air. Hmm, might be my new go-to.

I was reading a post about the yarn in Ellie’s hat in The Last of Us (Someone said they verified Sweet Georgia, speculation was Malabrigo Rios). It made me think about clothing production in the post-apocalyptic age. Throughout my childhood, I hated #StGeorge for having killed that cute #dragon. It was one of my first contacts with #biodiversityLoss and patriarchal #anthropocentrism. With this #embroidery, I took revenge. Long live the #dragons! Our world needs more cute #green beings.

During the liturgical season of Easter, I’m using the book CONTEMPLATIVE KNITTING as my daily devotional & discipline. My reasoning behind this is two-fold. First, my #prayer life could be better, or at least more robust. I don’t pray without ceasing, however, I almost knit that way. Maybe the habit will rub off. And second, as I have alluded to, I am starting a #FiberArts business, specifically #Knitting & #crochet One of the things I am determined to do is only do business with individuals & organizations who share my values. This discipline will help me identify & explore them.

To get through to the chapter on #Evangelism by #Pentecost I’ll need to read a couple chapters a week.
