I could see him at a distance in the tree but I couldn’t get focused. I was super excited when he visited my feeder! New bird sighting!

When the world feels chaotic, I focus on small things: a sparrow named Peck, a misty morning at Loch Leven, a podcast that has my daughter and me asking why Hera would ever put up with Zeus.
What are your small joys?

I want a camera in my brain. So I can take screenshots of what I see #birdNerd #BirdWatching #birdPhotography #twitcher
Ms House Finch and Mr Sparrow just visited briefly while i'm sitting on my balcony. i hope to work up to where they feel comfy eating from the feeders i've arranged just for them while i'm sitting calmly nearby #BirdNerd
Me watching a dark movie with lots of murders set in Alaska (but filmed in the Canadian Rockies): “Huh, what kind of chickadee was that? Do they have any we don’t have in Oregon? The call was too brief for me to be sure if it was one I know! Oh yes, umm, murders. Yes.”
(Looked it up later and Alaska — and Canada — have several types I know, AND another, the Boreal Chickadee!)

In 1995 there were just 51 kākāpō and the threat of losing them forever was all too real. Today there are 247 of the endangered flightless nocturnal parrots native to Aotearoa/New Zealand. here's a wee look into conservation efforts to boost their numbers: https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/ourchangingworld/audio/2018948828/a-year-of-mainland-kakap #Aotearoa #NZ #BirdNerd #kākāpō

NGL, it was pretty awesome to toot that last one while sitting on the couch with @Jillianmarisa, my DS9 cup full of #BirdFriendlyCoffee watching our bird buffet out the window and playing #wingspan. #BirdNerd maximum achievement unlocked!
This baby crow wants some dinner RIGHT NOW, and wants the entire neighborhood to hear about it.
@JamieDunning we always got room for another #birdNerd!
Love listening to and watching the crow family with their adolescent fledgling. I hope they don't think I'm too creepy.
