Mein Urlaub verläuft bislang sehr produktiv, bin wahnsinnig glücklich. Jetzt erstmal Linux Ubuntu auf einem alten PC installiert, um damit zu üben und auszuprobieren, bevor ich mich wirklich an meinen Gaming PC wage. Bin überrascht wie gut und einfach das funktioniert hat. Morgen installiere ich die nächsten Programme, wenn ich endlich ins Internet komme, es wollte nicht auf den ersten Versuch.
Ihr wollt zu Linux wechseln? Wenn es die Apps die ihr unbedingt braucht, nicht für Linux gibt, sucht nach Ersatz, den es auch für das System gibt, von dem ihr kommt. Testet Linux in einer virtuellen Maschine auf eurem aktuellen System. Wenn alles wie gewünscht funktioniert, stellt um!

@virgil_tibbs ich würde behaupten @linuxmint ist das quasi. Linux ist oft sogar leichter als Windows zu bedienen, z.B. beim installieren und updaten von Anwendung, wo es oft schwierig wird ist oft sobald man sich von den Standard wegen weg beliebt und z.B. die Kommandozeile oder irgendwelche Konfigurationsdateien durchwühlen muss.
Siehe gaming, mit #SteamPlay sehr leicht, über #Lutris Skripte - oder allein das man andere Anwendungen finden muss - schon schwieriger.

At the end of last year I did try to convince my father to continue using his old PC instead of buying a new one which can run Win11.
Sadly he was like "I do not want to try getting my software to work, I want to turn it on and it should run just like before.
I did not know how I could argue with a statement like this. How would you approach something like this?
What do you tell people to convince them to continue using there old Hardware?
I got my significant other and partner in life excited about Linux. She’s computer saavy but not a computer expert/administrator so getting her excited about Linux is awesome.
As I’m typing this she’s getting aquanyed with a fresh install of Ubuntu. Everything is working so far including her Bluetooth headphones, which was a huge deal for her.
