What's the easiest way nowadays to run some flavor of a Linux desktop in a virtual machine on a Mac nowadays?

Tried Ubuntu + VirtualBox unattended install, it's been running for hours with a broken screen, no feedback on progress. Far from amazing experience.

I really don't care what Linux it is, as long as I can boot it up quickly in a VM and install some desktop software.

It's weird how some things just stay with you. My first exposure to mainframes was VM/CMS back in the mid-80s at IBM. Back then, the command to clear the screen was 'CLS'. I must have typed that hundreds of times over the years. Now I always add CLS as an alias for 'Clear' on my ZSH profile on macOS. As I say, weird.

Ich habe grade erfahren was eine maximal 5-10 Mbyte große #postgresql instanz bei #azure kostet (Spoiler: dafür bekommt man "einige" #vm #vps in der #Hetzner #cloud , die dafür ausreichend dimensioniert sind!)
Als Sahnehäubchen soll der Zugriff bitteschön über #citrix erfolgen (also noch mal Kosten pro User pro Monat, also weitere x VMs/VPS)… #wtf ?

I'm at the absolute end of my comprehension of Wireguard and WG-Easy. I, for the love of anything, CANNOT get my VPN to stay connected for more than 3 minutes. I have tried connecting via direct Public IP, my Domain with A Certs, PersistentKeepalive, changing/removing UFW/Firewall, hosting on bare metal, LXC, VM. ProxLB is an advanced #loadbalancer for #Proxmox clusters that brings in features like #DRS (known from #VMware), #maintenance mode and (anti-)#affinity groups.

I just published a new Ansible role that automatically populates host variables with Proxmox-related information from the inventory. This includes node assignment, VM/container type, status, MAC address, QEMU agent status, and resource allocation. For now, it supports a single cluster.
