« À Sanaa, mais aussi à Saada — berceau du mouvement rebelle —, et dans la plaine côtière de la Tihama, les destructions sont nombreuses. Les attaques répétées sur le port de Ras Issa menacent également d’affecter l’approvisionnement en aide humanitaire, essentielle pour la survie de 60 % des Yéménites. »

Love that pic. President Zelensky returning the ‘favour’ in a masterful way. Right there is the difference between European politics and the blusted and thunder that passes for diplomacy in the US.

There is much to dislike about Xi Jinping's government, but Keir Starmer and his successors in Downing St must ensure that the UK avoids following the US into confrontation with China.

Although the Democrats are much less crude and rash than Trump and the Republicans, they are no less committed to maintaining US global hegemony and keeping China down.

This US policy serves neither the national interests of the UK nor those of progressive politics in general. Instead, the UK should draw closer to the EU to forge common policies for global prosperity, environmental regulation, and security. Relations with Xi Jinping's China won't be miraculously facilitated by the UK moving in this direction, but they will be markedly better than they would be were the UK to fall in behind the US.
