@KarlHeinzHasliP @denki Personally, I think that standardized #batteries that get swapped would've been the solution to the charging speed problem.

#BEV|s are a problem and the #EnergyDensity and #Charging problems are hard walls that can only be circumvented (i.e. swapping fluids at a #RedoxFlow-#Battery) or ignored (i.e. #Methanol #FuelCell)...

Solving the #EnergyProblem isn't a technological issue, but a political one (see #DESERTEC)...

@CppGuy One word: #Tetraetyllead

IMHO it'll be inevitable that #Methanol #FuelCell-based #EV|s will be the future simply because:
1.#Lithium is scarce & expensive
2.#refueling will always be faster than #charging
3.#EnergyDensity of Methanol exceeds that of any #battery
4.#FussilFuel #Corporations can simply switchover pumps and flex their #EconomyOfScale and existing #Logistics to flood the market with cheap Methanol even if it has to be made 100% sustainable and without any fossil resources.
5.#EnergyStorage is another problem and #FuelCells can replace both #EmergencyPower systems running if #Diesel as well as the average #gasoline #generator.

Not to mention there needs to be #SystemChangeNotClimateChange and that necessitates way better #PublicTransport, regardless if #Trains, #Trams, #Trolleybuses or #FuelcellBuses (in that order)...

  • Otherwise shit won't change.

OFC what any #BEVs won't fix is the fact that most particle emissions are #tire #brake #dust...

  • And those are inherebtly unavoidable.unless we want to sacrifice #RoadSafety!

@GreenFire not really...

They still make a shitton of money with other products from oil and gas, like plastics, fertilizer and pharmaceuticals or rather the base products for all these.

Nit to mention that I think that if they didn't diversify their portfolios by now they're so bad businesspeople that they deserve to get obsoleted.

Not that Lithium-battery cars are going to save the world , far from it.

Rather look at howthe oil andncar industry not only sabotaged #PublicTransport with lobbyism and hostile takeovers but also FUD and propaganda.

In fact, #ElonMisk admitted that he solely pitched the #Hyperloop in order to sabotage #CHSR / #California #HighSpeedRail...

#Trains and #Trolleybuses, not #BatteryCars will be the nevessary shift to reduce trafcic-based emissions!

@ErikUden @teslastoppen no, #Tesla is #ValueRemoving to the envoirment and society.

Cuz I can mathematically evidence that #BatteryElectricCars / #BEV|s are so bad it is more envoirmentally friendly for me to drive a #GDR-made two-stroke 50cm³ motorcycle instead of any of their #cars.

Not to mention #ElonMusk openly admitting to #Sabotage #PublicTransport projects like #CHSR (#California #HighSpeedRail) with bullshit like the #Hyperloop!

if #Tesla as a company was envoirmentally-concious, they'd not build #SuperUselessVehicles for Incels like the #CyberTruck but instead build either #PersonalLightVehicles if not #Trolleybuses and thus actually make things better...

@paultk @notjustbikes
Tho stuff like making bus lines is relatively easy and doesn't require much of a setup except marking bus stops, putting up posts, and getting buses and divers...

#PublicTransport is the key - Ideally using #Trolleybuses as this will reduce the amount of hazardously mined, energy-consumingly refined and unfair traded minerals needed...

@BinChicken There is no "zero emission" transportation on ruber wheels, since they'll inevitably emit particles from their brakes and microplastics from their tires whilst accellerating and decellerating.

That being said, hydrogen is a waste product of the fossil fuel industry and would otherwise get burned off via the safety fire...

Not to mention that the same "pollution out of sight" also applies to #battery-electric vehicles.

So #Trolleybuses and #Trams are better.

"Universal #farelessTransit makes fiscal sense. The report notes that for every fare dollar Metro collects, Metro spends $0.75 on the expenses of collecting & enforcing fares." 💸

US #transit agencies that must scale 5-10x to meet CO2/GHG emission reduction goals in the next decade need to learn how to run #trolleyBuses + create a sustainable funding source that can deliver that level of service, not nickle & dime riders while play-acting as a business. #transitTooter 🚎

@natty @lunareclipse personally I like #Trolleybuses as they allow #Tram-Style efficient transport even if your Geography has too narrow and steep hills to lay down tracks - regardless if dedicaded or embedded in the road surface...
