I'm staunchly team #Paralives now.
I didn't always use to think so highly of it, especially concerning its epidemic "coziness"/safety that I feared would end up making the game boring, non-representative of poverty, and rather drama-free... but with #InZOI showing what the "corporate AI-driven rich influencer startup" alternative life sim vibe looks like, I really am at a point where I prefer a traditional, handmade, queer-friendly indie game like Paralives.

In Paralives, you'll be able to customize the color of any piece of furniture.
And when I say customize ? I mean CUSTOMIZE.
New unlocked Paratreon post : this time, the Paralives team showcases some weird items for the build mode.
This includes a cactus couch (so pricky and yet so comfy !), various plushies including that of a worm (ew ?), body pillows (no kinkshaming please), and my favorite, a giant shelf to place above a children's bed (or a couch, desk, etc.) to make them feel like a fairytale princess.
Meanwhile, in Paralives previews : it's the little things.

Now let me be clear.
Yes, right now these objects are not interactive ; there is no disability gameplay at the moment. But the game is still in development, and will only come out in Early Access in 2025.
In case you're not keeping track, Paralives released another title of their soundtrack to the public today :
Personally I have one goal for 2025, and one goal only : being able to save money so I can have a computer that can run both #Paralives and #ARKSurvivalAscended (...and maybe #ARK2 but I'm not holding my breath XD ).
All the reviews I'm seeing about the new #TheSims4 expansion pack lament the lack of depth and nuance, well, good news : it's gonna be in #Paralives in 2025.
Keep your monies until then, is my advice.
Also of note : in #Paralives, it's possible to have very complex relationships, because you don't necessarily have ONE bond with someone.
As such, Anisa is connected to Carl in three different ways :
- Secret crush lvl 1 (since the player decided to pick that romance-related Together Card just in the choice above)
- Acquaintance lvl 1 (they've just met afterall)
- Former classmate lvl 2 (they have some ancient history they haven't bonded over much yet)
There is no better example of that than the part of the gameplay video that happens... in a gym.
Anisa, the Para who is used to present how #Paralives works, notices a cute Para that she is attracted to across the room where she's been exercising with friends. The player makes her talk to that attractive Para, named Carl, and later train with him.
...An ingame hour later, the next Together Cards
Each time Together Cards pop-up, they're anchored in what the Paras were doing, where they are, how they have previously interacted, what their relationship currently are, their personalities, their wants, and maybe some other things I'm not perceiving at the moment.
So in #Paralives, the context is ALWAYS relevant.
For reference, in #Paralives, ALL interactions will depend on context : you set two Paras (or more !) to interact in a place, and then every game hour, Paralives gives you three options about the direction in which you make the relationship evolve, which leads to various perks and directions. This is what the game calls "Together Cards" :
It's very interesting to see English Simmer's example about having a date at the gym in the new #TheSims4 expansion pack... and looking at how #Paralives will deal with it.
@RebekahWSD : they have a pretty small team (about 10 people, maybe 12 I've lost count XD ). And they intend on staying small. At the end of the trailer, they even state that...

Paradox has cancelled #LifeByYou and shut down its development studio Tectonic. It’s sad to see yet another studio closing. While it hasn’t been the hottest competitor (that hat goes to #Paralives) I was looking forward to actually getting a choice and different ideas for life sims.
I sure hope Paralvive’s crowdsourcing makes them more resilient.
My favorite so far has been "Farewell Froggy". I really have a soft spot for it, and I can tell I'll listen to it as much as possible.
