"Kisses Sweeter Than Wine" is a #popular song, with lyrics written and music adapted in 1950 by #PeteSeeger and #LeeHays of #theWeavers. It became a US hit in a version recorded by the Weavers in 1951, and an even bigger hit in 1957 when recorded by #JimmieRodgers. #FrankieVaughan also had a top ten hit with the song in the UK in 1958. The tune was adapted from #LeadBelly's "If It Wasn't for Dicky" (1937).

The biggest hit version was by the #McGuireSisters, whose recording of it topped the Most Played chart in February 1958. It was also the second number 1 #Billboard single for the trio after 1954's #Sincerely. The song refers to the #JimmieRodgers tune "#Honeycomb", which had been recorded a few months earlier in 1957. "Blue Moon of Kentucky" is a #waltz written in 1945 by #bluegrass musician #BillMonroe and recorded by his band, the Blue Grass Boys. Some think the origins may trace back to "Roll Along, #Kentucky Moon", a similar waltz recorded 20 years prior by #JimmieRodgers. The song has since been recorded by many artists, including #ElvisPresley and #PaulMcCartney. The song is the official bluegrass song of Kentucky. In 2002.
