Intersectionality - one of the few terms [for now] that has not been taken over and thrown back at us as an insult. The most vulnerable people are affected by a multitude of discriminations. When a group of so called 'radical feminists' exclude Sex Workers [SWERF] or Transpeople [TERF] it also feels like a takeover of the term: feminism.

The Slogan: Macht aus dem Staat Gurkensalat (in its orginal Swiss German version: Machet usem Staat Gurkesalat) [Turn the state into cucumber salad] from the 80ies is transformed into a feminist message: Macht aus dem Patriarchat Gurkensalat [Turn the patriarchy into cucumber salad].

Patriarchy is still one of the fundamental structural problems in our societies. It remains the breeding ground for sexist thinking and the blueprint for power from the top down. This collage* is an homage to the famous slogan from more than fifty years ago. During the uprising in May 1968 they wrote the following in the streets of Paris: « Sous les pavés, la plage ! », which translates to: «Under the cobblestones, the beach!». A shout out for freedom and liberation.

With the upcoming Women’s Day on march the eighth, the feeling of rage drives us as we speak out against all ongoing violence and murders/femicides.

The slogan «Woman, Life, Freedom» has its origins in the women-led Kurdish movement (Jin, Jiyan, Azadî). It was picked up by the protests in Iran in 2022, following the death of Mahsa Amini, who was killed by the so called ‘morality’ police for not dressing up to their standards.

In October 2024 in a widely shared video on social media, we saw a woman in Teheran walking around in her underwear. It is reported that she acted in protest after being assaulted by campus security guards. The authorities on their part frame it as a mental breakdown. Another classic chess move in the sexist game of discrediting women, of denying their bodily autonomy and their right to protest against repressions.

Le groupe Communiste Républicain Citoyen Écologiste est favorable (on le savait déjà). Mais plus surprenante, Silvana Silvani du groupe CRCE regrette que le dispositif ne soit pas étendu à l'ensemble des problèmes de santé des femmes qui ont été soulevés par le rapport sénatorial sur la santé au travail (dont la ménopause et les autres phases dont je vous rabâche les oreilles ici). #CongéMenstruel #CongéHormonal&Procréatif
