This is awesome!

Remember the nice #DropbarMTB of @krystianwagnerr I shared recently (he went ti the AMR with it)?

This was the prototype and from today on you can buy this bike. And not only that - you can configure it to your heart’s content!

And they named it after me - Franky!
Oh well, maybe not after me…. but looking how you can set it up and what they write on the product page I certainly wouldn’t object. ;-))

Scenic view for my #DropbarMTB or better: my Gravelbike for fun, comfort and speed!

I built this bike already in December 2022 and it has proven itself over and over since. And dare I say wide tires and suspension forks are finally the main stream in Gravel they deserve if you want all three: fun, comfort and speed? :)

Sram Red AXS (new 2024) brake/shift levers and calibers: I really like the hoods and the brake power is significantly increased. 2 fingers on the hood braking steep offroad descends w/o breaking sweat? Check. „Sramimano“ drivetrain for best of both worlds: - Shimano BB for bigger diameter bearings, Shimano Hyperglide+ chain and cassette for optimum shifting performance and chain efficiency as well as better tooth count distribution) - Sram Eagle AXS (no Transmission) despite the frame having UDH. Because of lighter RD weights across all ranges, proven performance and for the AXS ecosystem of wireless shifting. (Note: Sram Transmission does alleviate many of the former issues. I.e. the Transmission chain efficiency is now on par with Shimano XTR, the tooth count distribution of Transmission is now nearly the same as Shimano always was and Transmission shifting seems flawless so not much/nothing lost if not using Shimano Hyperglide+ but I would be apprehensive of the chainline - my chainline of my Sramimano drivetrain is perfect) (cont'd in comments)"23 likes, 1 comments - torsten_frank on March 10, 2025: "Yesterdays scenic view for my Dropbar MTB or better: my Gravelbike for fun, comfort and speed! Sharing photos and personal experiences and teasing the fediverse with Meta since 2023 and loving it... 🤪😅

Have a look at my Canyon Exceed and why/how I like it. :)

InstagramTorsten Frank on Instagram: "As much as I try to convince myself that flatbars can work with the right grips and a bit of further provisions like the right innerbar ends and as much as I like my full suspension bike — taking my lovely Canyon Exceed for a (super cold) spin yesterday was an instant eye opener again. After 2 weeks or so exclusively on my flat bar full sus or on the smart trainer the Exceed instantly felt sooo good again! It’s not just the drop bars - although they provide a great deal of familiarity and comfort not only in terms of hands but the whole position on the bike. It’s the whole geometry which makes for such a capable yet still responsive and natural feeling steering without any wheel flop. Seriously - it’s geometry and handling really is a home run for fast overland XC, marathon and bikepacking as far as I am concerned. Unfortunately, XC mountain bikes are rapidly moving away from it towards trail riding geos (you nearly can’t even call them down country anymore) and gravel bikes are not there yet. Not that all gravel bikes should - but some. Also after quite some kilometers with the new Sram Red AXS brifters and brakes I’m totally sold. They are no magic bullets in terms of removing all pain points with hydraulic brakes and caliber or rotor misalignments, minuscule tolerances etc. But they improved on every aspect and even with my not that big hands I really like the hood shape. And the braking power is much welcome. . . #Sram #REDAXS #Canyon #Exceed #DropbarMTB #Brakes #cyclinglife #bikeaddict #cyclingshots #makebikeportraits @sramroad @canyon"35 likes, 2 comments - torsten_frank on December 14, 2024: "As much as I try to convince myself that flatbars can work with the right grips and a bit of further provisions like the right innerbar ends and as much as I like my full suspension bike — taking my lovely Canyon Exceed for a (super cold) spin yesterday was an instant eye opener again. Well - I guess it’s happening. First bikepacking event of the season! I’m starting traveling to Girona today. Saturday I’ll start „El Piri“. L’Esperit del Bikepacking’s second event in the Catalan Pyrenees. Just shy of 800 km and a nice dose of climbing and descending on mixed surfaces. I hope for nice weather, great views and nice riding. :)

Can you count the camera angles / mounting points?

Using a nice day in May (actually two ;-)) to show what you can do with a 360° Action Cam and some creative mounting (without much fuzz and without being a video editior or going full hog on editing - just one timeline and straight cuts inside the Insta360 Studio Desktop App.

If you follow me or my blog you’ll have seen this bike already a lot. And know exactly why and how I built it.

If not - well, you now have the opportunity to read about it in the most compact and brief manner I ever did. 😅

Here it’s in its full Bikepacking regalia just before Badlands.
