It's cold outside, how about making today a #WaffleWednesday? We can recommend this #vegan #waffle recipe from @c3WOC, prepared in style with #ClubMate:

And for more adventurous hackers, there are also these green oat mate tea waffles:

(German, feel free to use a translator.) We've heard that #C3WOC may not be serving their creations at #38C3, but we can honor their work of making vegan waffles by #DIY on days like today, right? 🌱😊

A German-South American fusion almost killed by two world wars but too good not to become an important cultural icon.

I can't get Club Mate here in Canada.

It was already difficult in the US, but I've yet to find anywhere I can buy it here so I'm thinking about making my own, which I've done in the past.

It's actually not very difficult- Club Mate is basically just yerba mate concentrate (ie brewed yerba mate), citric acid, sugar, and carbonated water.

In fact I even made my own sugar free version using Monkfruit, and it was great!

But then I had an idea, and I don't know if it's a good idea, or just plain crazy, so I'm curious if anyone else has made this:

Naturally carbonated (ie fermented) Mate soda.

I'd basically brew it like ginger ale, and then let it ferment to give it carbonation.

It would result in a little tiny bit of alcohol as a byproduct, but not enough to make an an alcoholic beverage.

Has anyone made this?
