Just saw #DeathOfAUnicorn.

It is a movie we went into with the expectation of Richard E. Grant revisiting Darwin Mayflower from Hudson Hawk. We were not disappointed, but we got so much more. It is a very fun romp, full of heavy-handed satire - and it works. And it works really well.

Lots of bloody violent deaths, lots of historical references (and some very specific made up ones), and some fantastic humour.

Paul Rudd and Jenny Ortega are having a ball, but the real prize in this is Anthony Carrigan as the magnificently understated manservant Griff.

9/10 and Alien meets Charlie Chaplin on the Sid and Nancy scale.

In homage to International Unicorn Day and Scotland's National Animal, a delicious Deanston.

You'll find statues and images of Unicorns all across Scotland.

Deanston 8 Banyuls finish, NC, NCF, 55.5%abv

The nose reminds me of sweet rhubarb rock (a Scottish sweet), stewed plums, dried dates and slight floral notes. That Deanston waxy creaminess, strawberries, orange peel, chocolate and chilli spice. A long, juicy red berries and spicy wood finish.

Deanston never fails to delight.

"The Laundry" is the code name for the secret British governmental agency whose remit is to guard the realm from occult threats from beyond spacetime. Entailing mastery of grimoires and also of various computer operating systems, the work is often nose-bleedingly tedious. As the front-cover copy line for Ace's edition of The Atrocity Archives noted, "Saving the world is Bob Howard's job. There are a surprising number of meetings involved." Previous "Laundry" stories on Tor.com are "Down on the Farm" and the Hugo Award finalist "Overtime."

Unicorn by Don Paterson after Rilke’s “Die Sonette an Orpheus” This is the animal that never was. Not knowing that, they loved it anyway: its bearing, its stride, its high, clear whinny- right down to the still light of its gaze. It never was. And yet such was their love the pure beast arose; they had cleared the space. And in the stable of its nothingness it shook its white mane out and stamped its hoof. They fed it, then, not with hay or corn, but with the chance that it might come to pass. All this gave the creature such a power its brow put out a horn; one single horn. It grew inside a maiden’s looking-glass then one day walked out, and passed into her.
