I topped 36,000 miles today in my #Chevrolet #Bolt EUV, which means the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. The benefit of the bumper-to-bumper warranty ending is that I can now more extensively modify the vehicle without violating the warranty. 1.) Install a Comma 3 system with FrogPilot so I'll have self-driving like a #Tesla and 2.) Install automobile #solar panels with #battery storage on the vehicle's roof rack so I can charge the #EV using the sun independently of our house.
Are you solar-curious? With the #climate heating & Republicans driving us right off the cliff, you won't regret starting *now* to get more energy resilient.

The #Solar journey has finally started, two sales surveys booked for next week from local installers.
Looking at the GivEnergy All in One, Inverter and Gateway for off grid support.
Local API and manufacturer supported open source library, #HomeAssistant custom integration and an MQTT app give me lots of integration options.
#FunFactFriday: Solar panels spend their lives outside and need to be able to weather the elements, and Canadian Solar has solidified their survival with their anti-hail panels. Will you give this tech a sunny welcome, or the cold shoulder? I feel like I've got to wait for the electrical grease to arrive.
Sending 100 plus amps down a cable that's oxidised with the heat is no joke.
Ask me how I know.
Dozens of Solar Inverter Flaws could be exploited to Attack Power Grids.
The vulnerabilities in products from three leading makers of solar inverters, Sungrow, Growatt and SMA, could be exploited to control devices or execute code remotely on the vendor’s cloud platform.
I've got some corner profile with slots in it that'll use like so.
One screw the length of the battery, using the tension put on the bolts by nuts to hold against the battery.
The BMS mounted, I think on the end closest to the battery on a mounting plate bolted to the corner profile.
The bolts I bought are 1m each, so they'll get cut down to size when the battery is in situ.
I want to glue the reinforcement bars on the bottom of the shelf but they need cutting, so I just set up a jig I have for using my angle grinder as a miter saw.
That is for first thing in the morning.
If I want to mount the BMS on the end of the battery, I'll have to lengthen the balance cables / probes.
I've got some heatshrink terminals somewhere

Solar people.
The design of this would have me believe I need to use two 2awg cables, but by the looks of it, a 2/0 would be better.
E.ON UK has announced that it has signed an agreement to fully acquire Eco2Solar, a residential #solar firm that works alongside property developers and new-build housing projects.
