Very nice, feature rich and user friendly file manager for your server.
How such seemingly cool project has ~250 stars on Github and literally every AI single readme file repo has 2k+ stars?

Livestream Alert: Setting Up My Owncast with Luis Quintanilla ( @lqdev )! Hey there, fabulous raccoon friends! Guess whaaaaat? I'm jumping into self-hosted EVERYTHING, including livestreaming, and my dear friend Luis Quintanilla is joining the ride!

I wrote about my web hosting history, having home pages and running blogs plus adjacent services since 1997. Given the change on the Internet in recent years, I’m very happy to continue doing this for the foreseeable future to be a part of the non-corporative web against big tech.
Seit einem Jahr habe ich meine eigene #Domain
War ein interessanter Schritt damals, und ist immer noch spannend das Projekt #selfhosting mit #yunohost und vor allem einer eigenen #nexcloud
Self-Host Weekly (2025-04-25)
#Newsletter name change, software updates and launches, a spotlight on #Warracker -- a warranty tracking platform, and more in this week's self-hosted recap!
It is said that every blogger will write blog posts on how they create their blog. Well, here is another one . I just wrote a little blog post on how I set up a self-hosted comment section for my blog:
Version 1.23.0-0 of our #unbound docker image was released by madnuttah-bot yesterday!
#OpenSSL has been updated to 3.5.0 after testing in the #canary image, too.

@dave_andersen even @signalapp has to comply with #CloudAct.
Only real #E2EE (= #SelfHosting-capable with #SelfCustody of all the keys) can be considered safe.

brought our server down again. We stopped counting the downtime in the last half a year. In our first 4 years of #selfhosting we had cca 2 days of downtime per year, longest one we had was when the internet cable was cut near our server location.
Then the robots sniffed out our git forge and the it doesn't handle the traffic.Whole server stops until someone restarts it.We blocked whole subnets from #Microsoft,#Amazon &#Meta at the start of 2025. It did not help for a long.
Thinking about #DNS recently...
How do you pronounce "AAAA", anyway?

I may have started digging in the #graylog rabbit hole…

Okay, call me crazy (you might be right...) but I'm pretty excited about this. I'm looking at self hosting my own jellyfin chromecast receiver.
When you cast video, the actual webapp that loads inside your tv is hosted somewhere on the internet (it's not a built-in component running from your local jellyfin install) because it's gotta be internet facing and registered with Google (it's a whole thing for chromecast receivers in general.)
It's actually remarkably straightforward to setup a local instance of this receiver, it's just a nodejs app that'll need a HTTPS endpoint.
Next step is I need to register a new cast app and add it into my local jellyfin instance and I should be able to get it working in our tv... To what end, I hear you ask? I wanna get some kind of logging/monitoring set up so I can diagnose an issue I've been having the last week or so I'm hoping to integrate OpenTelemetry
For the past 10+ years I've been using ZFS (FreeNAS/TrueNAS). For some reason, I only recently started using snapshots…THEY ARE AMAZING. So this is your reminder that if you're using ZFS, use snapshots.
my adventures in #selfhosting - day 128 (a bit Clueless edition)
Bonjour Fedi friends!
I'm having a really interesting week: 4 adult caretakers in a house with 3 little children... as I admitted to someone on here, self-hosting is FAR easier than being a referee in fights about LEGOs
Now, whenever the cousins are busy playing in the garden, I try to do a bit of work, namely: figuring out #PeerTube from the POV of a self-hoster.
Yesterday I finally understood how I could create a user account (other than "root" - the superuser created during the PeerTube installation).
Today I'm busy trying to solve another problem: how do you tell your followers you've moved to a new instance? Because yes, PeerTube is powered by #ActivityPub, but it doesn't support the MOVE function.
I rarely posted on my MakerTube account and only have 150 subscribers, who followed me when reading about it on my blog post about PeerTube.
But I have to admit, the whole "following" thing is really convoluted on PeerTube because you can follow an entire account or specific channels. And I'm a little lost regarding how I notify my followers about the change.
If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!
Oh and some news for you first... here is my new PeerTube home: https://videos.elenarossini.com/a/ele/video-channels
Special thanks to
@yunohost
for empowering me to set up my own instance
