What would it take for a #FreeEnterprise? Whether a company, nonprofit, school, or even an activist group, people in organizations have needs which are similar yet different from ordinary #FreeSoftware use cases, typically oriented around solo developers.
My name is Kurt Kremitzki, #FreeCAD and #Debian and I'm starting #KWKLabs, a free software enterprise operating out of #InnovateSpringfield, in the heart of the capital of #Illinois.
My first task? Migrate off Google Workspace!
Still waiting for missing parts, I could build the first prototype of my vertical planter bed. Heavily inspired by the commercial Herbios variant from .
Instead of using wooden planks as the base structure, I opted for a IMHO more stable scaffold made of Al profiles. I designed sheet metal angles in #freecad that attach to movable nuts inside the profile slot. The scaffold will be attached to the railing of the balcony, so that strong winds won't be an issue. #making #urbangardening
I've created a trash bag holder I called iTrash. It is made for Euroboxes for camper vans, but also works in the household.
You can find it here:

Fixing everyday items with #FreeCAD and #3dPrinting. Today: A replacement handle for a one cup Bialetti.
Another hardcore Friday night.. learning the mesh refinement aspects of the CfdOF workbench in @FreeCAD basically enables more accurate analysis where you need it. #FreeCAD #FreeCADFriday #CFD
Es wird...
Gehäuseteile sind mal in Druck.
Und: wenn man mal länger mit so was wie CATIA, Siemens PLM NX (früher Unigraphics NX), ... gearbeitet hat, ist es mit #FreeCAD soooo mühsam.
Done with #FreeCAD this friday : a small case to carry a tv-b-gone on a bike :) @FreeCAD #freecadfriday

It's #FreeCADFriday, as ever, show us what you've been working on, but as an additional side quest, what is a tutorial/guide or other inspiring FreeCAD content you've seen this week? #FreeCAD #CAD #CAM #BIM #CFD #Opensource
Just pre-ordered an #Elegoo centauri carbon, because I apparently need yet another hobby! Now to learn #freeCAD and #openSCAD while I wait for the estimated end of July delivery date. #3dprinting #3dprinter
Its barely even still wednesday, but here's a WIP Wednesday post...
I've started working on a retro-ish desk clock / home assistant speaker.
Still early days, but hopefully the design will flesh out and end up useful and printable.
Once I get a bit further, I plan to print this out as a clock only at first to make sure I like looking at the design, then figure out how to squeeze the electronics in.
#FreeCAD is an incredibly powerful, #opensource, 3D modeling and design application available on #Linux, #Windows, and #MacOS. https://youtu.be/-Woz1q4iIKY
Managed to extricate some design files that I need from their proprietary autodesk fusion360 prison (which you can run under linux, but it's hellish) into lovely opensource #FreeCAD - but somewhere in the conversion a number of meshes have become non-manifold (like the light blue quad intersecting the shaft in this image) and it's going to be a pain to repair - but probably less unpleasant than trying to make fusion360 work for me.
Points to anyone that can identify the mechanism
Since my brother didn't like the wood look of the plastic, I use it for non artistic purposes
Model of the keyboard block in #FreeCAD and the printed one with PCBs installed. (I really need to switch to custom boards and stop soldering a bunch of wires) #3dprinting #electronics
The next release of #FreeCAD Parametric Web Viewer is shaping up to look great, it's awesome having some help on the frontend. But things are still going slower than I'd like, in part because we're both juggling multiple projects and jobs. If you want to see this in the world or find it useful, please consider kicking in for its development. As of now, 100% of donations will go to paying for the frontend development work.
