about:preferences#privacy
hdfilme.my scheint nicht betroffen zu sein.

// droppie 17/4/25: Multiple times over recent days, to my displeasure, i've found that the 2x-daily Nightly updates kept re-enabling all the telemetry options in `about:preferences#privacy`. After #Firefox enabled #Sponsored Shortcuts and #telemetry AGAIN by itself I got *a bit* annoyed. Like I get it, they need to make money somehow, and gather some data. But if I opt out, then I opt out, and don't think about it anymore.
So trying out #Waterfox. Really nothing fancy, Firefox ESR but with this stuff turned off and some privacy-focused tweaks enabled by default. And it has an #android version (not ERS though).
So far really content with it. Keep up the good work, @Waterfox
@WillyECoyote69 #firefox memory use is nonsensical. I hope it will be enhanced in future.
OpenAI expressed interest in buying Chrome if it is forced to be sold as part of a remedy in the ongoing antitrust trial against Google. OpenAI wants to harvest search data, access Chrome's vast user base, and turn Chrome into "AI-first" experience.
In other news, Firefox exists...

#Firefox .... One Tab open (mstdn) ... but why does it need so much resources ?
@DO1HMN@mastodon.radio
There used to be a commercial version of #Firefox originally.
It was called #NetscapeNavigator.
Then #Microsoft made #InternetExplorer and released it for free.
Then you saw most websites have a little plaque on their home page "Designed to work with #Internet #Explorer".
Then Netscape went away and Firefox was born.
Then you saw #Google release its own #Chrome #browser.
And #Apple. (Internet Explorer and Firefox were both available for the Mac originally).
And then Apple borrowed the source code for the #Konqueror #web #browser from the #KDEProject and release their browser for free. (Apple didn't pay anything to the #KDE #project too by the way.)
See a pattern here?
They already tried charging for a browser.
#Netscape #Navigator cost $19.95 back in the day.
It didn't work.
Vertical tabs in #Firefox are great. Still some way to go until they can compete with #OmniWeb by @OmniGroup
We have really listened this time: Introducing Ads Performance, re-imagined, aka Anonym Private Audiences. Now in Beta, coming to your favorite browser soon.
I see #mozilla making all these #ai related announcements and it makes me sad.
We need you focused on making #firefox the world's greatest web browser.
We need you to curb stomp #chrome and #edge and all their sleazy shenanigans1.
There are so many areas for improvement but I'm going to list a few anyway:
(With apologies to the folks working on those teams. I'm sure you're good people, but these products are super sleazy in the form they ship to the world)
OpenAI wants to buy Chrome and make it an “AI-first” experience - Ars Technica
https://arstechnica.com/ai/2025/04/chatgpt-head-tells-court-openai-is-interested-in-buying-chrome/ <- I'm so glad I use Firefox, surely this is worst then Google owning Chrome... #chrome #google #openai #firefox
Hum... TIL that #TorBrowser is based on #Firefox ESR and seems to be working without using the Tor Network.
Given that, what's the benefit of all the other "Firefox Clone with Security and Privacy in mind"?
I guess the Tor Browser project already takes care of removing the ... naughty features ... from Firefox.
I suggest everybody who as a mozilla/firefox account leaves a comment about the new planned "AI" feature here: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/try-out-link-previews-in-firefox-labs-138-and-share-your/td-p/92012
Seeking #hivemind #macadmins help: I want to disable all browser.ml.* AI nonesense in #firefox, but i do not find any preferences for this in https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/ any idea how to set this with #jamf ?

Ask yourself this... why the fuck does #Mozilla have all this shit? Do we really need all this crap just to have a web browser? I think not. As evidenced by the fact that all this shit is actually being blocked and it's not affecting anything. #privacy #security #firefox #thunderbird #ads #telemetry
