It's possible in the next couple of months that riots will break out across the US due to shortages. A state of emergency will be called by Trump, with military force being used against civilians.

Just a fair warning, if these events unfold then you may want to stay home, or if you're crazy then livestream it all on X/twitter from your phone.

I don't know the future, but all signs point to this happening before summer.

I must not fear. #Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

- Frank Herbert

>>What matters is that acts we once took for granted as virtuous, routine, and safe — telling the truth, representing those oppressed by the state, providing legal aid to the powerless, volunteering to work at a polling site, basic journalism — now carry some risk. They now require some courage. Maybe the government won’t send you to prison. At least not yet. But it can make your life really difficult.<<

The Watch · The courage to be decentBy Radley Balko

You know, how people say, that listening to your fear is healthy? Because your subconscious wants to tell you something?

Well, @pragdave got this article here => articles.pragdave.me/p/fear-an which asses the question a bit less in black and white but some appropriate shades of gray.

Though I really think, sometime you absolutely need to listen to your fear. For example, there is this book "C++ without Fear" => informit.com/store/c-plus-plus.

Never try to overcome your fear when it's about C++. You need to live in fear when using C++. Like for people clearing minefield, fear is a survival trait when you are dealing with C++. It keeps you alert enough to spot the footguns / mines from slight discolorations of the vegetation, the flight of bugs and bees. I'll keep you alive (though, likely it will be a paranoid, miserable one)

If you are not working with C++ (yet), your fear tries to warn you off. Listen to it [1].

[1] Well, at least until all undefined behavior has finally been removed from the language (I hear there is an effort afoot to just do that in the next year, but I might also have been the victim of a joke, since I cannot find a reference to this art of the standardization effort.)

Pragdave · Fear, and When To Fear ItBy Pragdave

Just in case you need another example of what #fascism is doing to #science , #society and how #fear works out:

"After much thought, [..] they preferred not to risk publishing at this time. One had just lost a job because of a canceled government grant; the other feared a similar fate if they went ahead with the paper. Although both were legally in the U.S., they worried they might lose their residency [...]."

The Washington Post · Fearing paper on evolution might get them deported, scientists withdrew itBy Mark Johnson

Do not give attention, energy or validation to fear-driven thoughts or stories, bc when you do, they become stronger. It's hard sometimes to stay grounded, to choose calm over chaos & not to reinforce fear - especially where fear often spreads quickly through the news, social media or our own thoughts.
