Today we found Virgin Hill Roasters out in Foster Quebec. Curious if they are related to the old Virgin Farms in North Hatley. Back in the the 80’s we frequented the farm on our motorbikes after after the main house burnt down and the started farming. Also discovered today that my Uncle knew old grandmother Virgin. Always an adventure to be had.

The Instant Coffee Boom Is Changing Farmers’ Fortunes
The price of coffee is at its highest in decades — bad news for caffeine-lovers, but good for bean farmers in Vietnam profiting from global demand.
“Farmers now treat their beans like cash,” said local coffee dealer Nguyen Thu Hong. “They store the coffee in their backyard and only sell small amounts whenever they need money, just like withdrawing cash from an ATM.”
Aside from my habilins, my husband also came home with a bag of this freshly roasted beans. It's from Maxi Coffee Bar, a quaint coffee shop in Ann Siang Hill that serves delicious coffee. Glad we had the pleasure of discovering it two years ago.

Any Montrealers here who have found a good alterntaive to Lavazza beans for their daily caffeine fix? We tried a few local roasters out over the last couple of years, but perhaps it is time we restart our search a little more seriously.
i'm trying to stay away from making cups (my pottery comfort zone) but after throwing a bunch of lids and spouts, i had a little nub of clay left, and decided to make this tiny little shot glass or espresso cup 'for fun'. it's sooo cute!!! These will be great for glaze testing.
