Watching the comments of our Prime Minister just now, it's never been more clear that Mark Carney is the leader that Canada needs right now and going forward. There is no other choice. Measured, intelligent, experienced and reassuring. #CanPoli

Putting aside the "shoulds," do you think that a newly elected Canadian Liberal government would cancel the F35 Fighter Jet agreement with the USA, or will it continue well past the 16 already purchased?

#PeePee obviously wants to get out in front of Trump Tariffs and look like a leader. So his plan has 3 parts:

1) We need a plan.

2) We should announce that plan after the election.

3) What ever plan we announce should be long-term. You know, instead of short term.

The most impressive part of this clip is the absence of a 3-word cheesy slogan.

Trump to try and ruin the American Economy in "New Catastrophic Tax Day".

Using tariffs to stifle the economy, create mass inflation, destroy millions of jobs, the deranged US President intends to add taxes to thousands of products.

Be clear and honest when reporting the news in a crisis.

Mumbled cowardly oatmeal is as big a problem, as big an attack on democracy, as the damaged President.

Be Honest.
Don't mumble.

"Cultivating an impression of working-class relatability is key to Poilievre’s political brand.

However, DeSmog’s map shows that the Conservative leader and his party are linked to a constellation of corporate lobbyists and industries far removed from the day-to-day interests of ordinary Canadians."

Interesting one that jumped out for me: Koch Industries is a client of a lobbying firm associated with Steven Harper.

DeSmog · Poilievre Mapped: His Inner Circle of Lobbyists and Right-wing ActivistsKoch Industries, Elon Musk’s X Corp., Loblaws, Enbridge, Pathways Alliance, the Canadian Gas Association, Rumble Canada, Rebel News, Canada Proud, and Facebook. These are just a handful of the corporate interests and right-wing communications platforms linked to the inner circle of Pierre Poilievre and his federal Conservatives as Canada heads into a snap federal election […]

I created a line chart from the data of polls tracked by 338Canada.com. I wanted to see it myself.

Nothing revelatory here but I really wanted to watch that CPC and NDP trend. This makes it easier than looking at the table.

Looks like the CPC is stuck in the 35-40% band. The LPC has reached its peak around 45% and the NDP and Bloc found their bottoms at 6% and 4% respectively.

Will the #TrumpTariffs produce a shift?

Poilievre’s Conservatives, opposed to Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, intend to attack MAID if given the power. (Article 87, P23)

As a Canadian who has witnessed the assisted suicide of a much loved patriarch suffering from Parkinson’s disease, it is deeply troubling that #Poilievre’s #Conservatives intend to end #MAID.

For those in need who require a loving release from this world (surrounded by family) due to a tortured existence, assisted death is only humane.

MAID is a critical service which must be protected. We must not allow Conservatives to follow #America’s #Project2025 playbook, forcing religious ideologies and constraints on Canadian rights.

Continued thread

Just came across this interview yesterday between CNN and Mélanie Joly where she mentions there have been talks between the Prime Minister of Canada and President of Mexico.

Good to see that that discussion is finally happening at the highest levels.

At the end, she is asked whether Canada and the USA are in a Trade War now. She answers yes, of course we are.

New fentanyl data undercuts White House’s portrayal of Canada’s role in U.S. drug crisis

Barely more than one-10th of 1 per cent of fentanyl seizures at the northern border have been positively attributed to Canada by the United States border agency, according to new data released to The Globe and Mail.

The only tool I want to see on the other side of that border is scab Shawn Fain.

11 minute interview between CNBC and Doug Ford and there is ALOT to unpack. The stupidity of the US commentators here talking to Doug Ford is just... 🤦‍♂️

Joe Kernen (sp) called Mark Carney, a former central banker, a “zealot”. A ZEALOT!? 😅 Because he believes in climate change apparently, or 'climate justice’ as he put it?

Obviously these fools still believe we can just burn down the planet and their investment portfolios will be just fine.

This was after there was sudden mass confusion on the American talking head side when Ford said Canada would get rid of all tariffs if the USA got rid of theres... obviously meaning the reciprocal tariffs Canada has put on, but apparently the talking heads thought he meant the tariffs Trump complains about (which by all accounts have never been applied)... which we should all know is just another smokescreen to Trump's actual intention, which is authoritarian, centralized control and manipulation of the market and thus economy of the United States and, in his hope, the world.

These are the same people who a year ago would have been cheerleading NAFTA/CUSMA... whose very purpose is tariff free trade.🤦‍♂️

Oh and "Joe" also tries to bait Ford into giving an opinion on Carney winning the election, Ford smartly avoids (as is Canadian political practice) much to Joe's chagrin.

Ford does an OK job overall here but I am saddened at the shot he takes at Mexico on "cheap parts" and talking about a "CUSA” deal without Mexico.

I don't understand Canada and Mexico's reluctance to work together through all this. There is obviously some sort of tension there that is not being communicated with the public of Canada, not sure about Mexico.

Also, if he thinks China is a bigger 'enemy' than the USA, he's fooling himself, but I suspect this is just the message he wants to portray to the Americans to try to get them to see reason.
