Sylke’s view on the outsideYesterday we went on a family+1 excursion to Northern Germany‘s highest mountain. It’s roughly 1120 metres high but the climate up their is more akin to the alps than it should be at that level. We walked from a pretty town called Ilsenburg along the river Ilse. The first five (of 13.5) kilometres were stunningly beautiful and well shaded. After that it got a lot more tiresome and we just about managed to get our chosen steam train connection downwards once we had reached the summit.
