Kleines Update. Also ich hab das Handy doch noch mal komplett platt gemacht, um dann die #LineageOS Version drauf zu machen, die #microG schon mit drin hat.
Unfassbar, wie gut alles funktioniert. Eben noch die Banking-App umgezogen. Als App-Store verwende ich jetzt neben #fdroid den #aurorastore - also für ne anonyme Session zum Playstore. Also nicht gaaaaanz google-frei aber das reicht mir so.
Bis auf die Einschränkung, dass ich meine Threema-Lizenz ausm Playstore und die gekaufte DWD-App nicht mehr nutzen kann hab ich null komma null Einschränkungen.

Das alte Handy dient jetzt nur noch n paar Wochen zur Sicherheit, falls ich irgendwas vergessen hätte. Dann wird das auch befreit und dann zieh ich wieder um, weil hier am Ersatzhandy der Knopf ausgeleiert ist (geht eher Richtung 1st World Problem).

Arbeitskollegen sind schon scharf auf das Gerät, weil die das selbst austesten wollen. Mission erfolgreich :)

Ich habs endlich getan! Ich hab heute mein Samsung Galaxy S10e umgeflasht auf #lineageos
Also eigentlich hab ich n baugleiches umgeflasht, weil ich n Angsthase bin.
Klar: rtfm und step-by-step aber... Ohne Probleme...
Aber jetzt hab ich hier n Handy, das 2023 vom Hersteller aussortiert wurde mit einem Android 15 drauf. Und das rennt! Google-frei... Ohne nervige "we want all your data"-Popups... #privacy
Dachte, irgendwas wird nicht gehen oder so aber nein. Tut alles bisher... Alle Messenger schon umgezogen, jetzt noch die anderen Apps und dann lege ich das "alte" Handy zur Seite...

Bin jetzt echt n bisschen baff, dass das so gut läuft.

Werft eure alten Handys nicht weg!

This one needed a bit more TLC as the unit I got (2nd hand, P2800) was missing the metal shields and heatsink. It's not really required but I added a new heatsink + thermal pads to try and squeeze every bit of performance from the tablet. I should also undervolt it but that's for another time.

In any case, this is now a 10-year old tablet that's running Android 13, fully deGoogled, and w/o bloatware.

Here's another victim/beneficiary of our Android upcycling. 😂

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (2014, SM-T800) was my initial target for a multimedia/reading tablet. If you've had this or still rock it, you know why—a 2560x1600 Super AMOLED display, the first on a tablet when it was released. Just look at the difference between it and the LCD display of the SM-T580 (T580 on the left, T800 on the right).

Gestern konnte ich mit @dpresutti für die @fsfe unseren Offenen Brief zu #UpcyclingAndroid an @TabeaRoessner, die Vorsitzende des Digitalausschusses im @bundestag, überreichen.

Im Offenen Brief fordern wir mit 147 Organisationen und über 3000 Unterzeichnenden das Recht, jede Software auf jedem Gerät zu installieren. Durch #FreieSoftware können hunderte Millionen von Geräten länger genutzt werden. Wir brauchen dieses Recht für eine nachhaltigere Gesellschaft!
