TfL confirmed they are collaborating with the Department for Transport and the Rail Delivery Group to enable Railcards to be linked with contactless cards in the future as part of a broader initiative to expand pay-as-you-go contactless services across the South East, though no specific delivery date has been set. One such option was the City Tram—proposed to run from Highbury & Islington to Brixton via Shoreditch, Liverpool Street, and London Bridge—designed to offer local connectivity at lower cost. The 1991 safeguarded route was used as a benchmark throughout the analysis. Each option was assessed against a range of strategic, environmental, operational, and financial criteria. TfL then consolidated the 64 options into 29 representative schemes for more detailed evaluation. It's been talked about for 30 years at least but maybe this time its serious - they even have a date 1 January 2026. Something to look forward to. This is why if you use them you should regularly check that they've charged you correctly. It seems that if you only use buses they get it right, but if you use trains and tubes they screw up about one journey in 10. TfL's own website for calculating fares doesn't work either (presumably they don't want to make it easy to check for overcharging) but <a href="https://oysterfares.com/fare-finder/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://oysterfares.com/fare-finder/</a> does.

For the first time, <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/TfL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TfL</a> has set targets across all areas of its business, aiming for a 90% emissions reduction by 2030. TfL is transitioning to zero-emission vehicles, including over 1,900 of London’s 9,000 buses, and improving energy efficiency across its estate, with plans for solar farms and LED lighting. It aims to source 100% of its electricity from renewables by 2030. TfL is also reducing carbon in construction, targeting low-carbon materials and emission-free deliveries by 2030. These efforts support London’s goal of becoming a carbon-neutral capital by 2030.
