Leiden and the rest of my province were only code orange but there’s enough big branches down that I’m glad I could stay indoors and listen to #StormPoly: debris smacking against the windows, plant pots rolling and smashing, the neighbours doing their DIY outdoors…
#StormPoly has passed leaving one dead, several injured, and plenty of damage in the Netherlands. The storm was bad not just because it was out of season with record-breaking summer winds (146km/h), but because it spun up so fast that the KNMI Met Service had to call a code red during morning rush hour without even having time to consult the usual parties.
