Thousands of #Health and Human Services (#HHS) employees across the country are being dismissed on Tuesday as the #Trump administration began implementing its controversial workforce reduction plan, which could ultimately remove 10,000 staff from the department through forced #layoffs – slashing nearly a quarter of its workforce through a combination of layoffs and early retirement offers.

The Guardian · Thousands of US health agency workers laid off in overhaul led by RFK JrBy Joseph Gedeon

I feel like an old person screaming at the clouds, but the banks are getting really weird lately.

If you follow me I’m sure you’ve seen me rant about #Discover card changing what they will allow people to dispute.

#USAA lowered my credit card limit & didn’t tell me. I wouldn’t be sure of it if I didn’t have an old statement to look at because it’s the same old limit from a few years ago, but they did.

I’m also pretty sure that they used to show the running total under the transaction description and amount, and it’s gone now. This is confusing because I just made a payment, that shows pending, and I can’t tell if the new amount is after the payment or not until after it posts, but I’m pretty sure that was the balance before I made the payment.

And #Wallgreens is a pharmacy not a bank, but I still think it’s shady AF that they took the retail price off the pharmacy print out so I have no idea what my medications cost without insurance until I get my EOB. I like knowing what these medication’s cost. Having this information made me decide that getting 10 mg of sumatriptan is absolutely stupid because six of those cost Medicare $800 when it’s less than $80 for six 5 mg & I can just get two of those instead (even though I pay two copays that way they’re only $4.15 so it’s worth it to not drain #medicare unnecessarily.)

Am I just an old person #screaming at clouds now?

A #Texas heroine calls out #GOP Congress Critter Keith Self on his lies about #Medicaid and #Medicare. The crowd in Wylie, TX (near DFW) goes wild cheering.

InstagramVote In Or Out 🇺🇸 on Instagram: "During a recent town hall in Wylie, Texas, Representative #KeithSelf faced pointed criticism from constituents regarding potential cuts to Medicaid. A woman in attendance challenged Self’s assertions, stating, “You are required by the resolution that you voted for to cut $880 million… It is mathematically impossible to cut $880 million from that committee without touching Medicare or Medicaid.” Her remarks, supported by documentation, underscored the community’s apprehension about the impact of such budgetary decisions on vulnerable populations. The exchange was met with applause from the audience, reflecting broader public concern over proposed reductions to essential healthcare programs. This incident highlights growing tensions between lawmakers and constituents over fiscal policies affecting social services. The proposed cuts have sparked debates about the feasibility of achieving significant budget reductions without compromising critical programs like Medicare and Medicaid. As the discourse continues, it remains imperative for policymakers to address these concerns transparently, ensuring that the needs of all citizens, particularly the most vulnerable, are adequately considered in legislative decisions. #KeithSelf #MedicaidCuts #TownHall #HealthcareDebate #FiscalPolicy #PublicConcern — Help this information get to more voters. 🇺🇸 A well-informed electorate is a prerequisite to Democracy.—Thomas Jefferson At a town hall in Wylie, TX, today, a woman called out Republican Keith Self for lying about cuts to Medicaid. 28/ BREAKING, Social Security again pushed back its timeline for In-person identity proofing for people unable to use their personal my Social Security account for certain services will be effective April 14, 2025.

The Trump - DOGE created chaos has received great pushback and is constantly changing, making seniors and the disabled nervous.

Under the updated policy beginning April 14, 2025, individuals applying for Social Security #Disability Insurance (SSDI), #Medicare, or Supplemental Security Income ( #SSI ) who cannot use a personal my Social Security account can complete their claim entirely over the telephone without the need to come into an office.

Individuals who cannot use their personal my Social Security account to apply for benefits will only need to prove their identity at a Social Security office if applying for Retirement, Survivors, or Auxiliary (Spouse or Child) benefits

People who do not already have a my Social Security account can create one at www.ssa.gov/myaccount/. It's beneficial whether you receive benefits or not.

Ron DeSsntis wants to lower the age kids can work to make up for the migrant deportations. What’s next? Raise retirement age to 75?

The #FascistGOP created the problem, let their kids work the harvests and rebuild homes after hurricanes.

When the #GOP come for #Medicare, #MAGA is going to be pretty pissed when Mom & Dad move in with their kids.

In only 66 days Trump has broken so many things. I think people should have taken Project 2025 seriously.

Iinherently governmental functions should stay rooted in the government, and I wish to make it clear that I am against #privatization of essential government programs.

#MedicareAdvantage -the "market solution" to make #Medicare more efficient and cost the government less-costs the government more than Traditional Medicare, $80 billion more in 2024. Please ask the question loudly and frequently, "How does privatization help when it actually costs more? Why do we support a program that costs more when the lower-cost option already exists?"

Listen to the discussions about privatizing the "unprofitable" post office. Privatizing simply means that someone will extract profit out of the thing being privatized. Given the same resources, the same logistical constraints, and same desired services, how will privatization of the #PostOffice serve all Americans? Please ask the question frequently and loudly, "Who would benefit from privatization?"

We all know the answer: the rich and the connected. But talk about it often on social media and every time you are interviewed.

Please make the point in every discussion on the topic that privatization is always about extracting profit. It is never about serving Americans. Then please do everything in your power to fight efforts to privatize essential government services.

@fsinn I think people don't realize that most long-term residents of skilled nursing facilities are on #Medicaid. (#Medicare used to cover SNF services.) Grandparents or elderly parents, or severely #disabled. Nursing homes are prohibitively expensive otherwise. Candidates for a nursing home have to use up all of their savings and other wealth beforehand, in order to qualify for Medicaid. Except for the wealthy, most of us will need Medicaid.
