I've decided to create an account here for the Rugby #RepairCafe. Hopefully it'll have been authorised by the #MastodonApp.UK team by tomorrow afternoon and then I can start posting. I think that a separate account might just be enough of a push to get me off my arse and post regularly again.

If so, no chance. The official Mastodon mobile app seems to be hard-coded against the assumption that the whole Fediverse only consists of vanilla Mastodon with a maximum of 500 characters.
If you don't like that, try another app like Mona or IceCubes for iOS or Tusky for Android. Of course, that requires getting used to the app not having the same name as the "service".
To my best knowledge, the official Mastodon mobile app is the only Fediverse frontend that can't collapse posts. In fact, it's most likely the worst and most lack-lustre Mastodon app out there.

Why is there nothing to tap to quickly see the replies to a toot on the #MastodonApp ? It's annoying to have to open a post in a Browser just to be able to see replies. #Mastodon bug, omission or feature?

I can't get anything to open by toggling either the in-app #browser or using the system default. As a matter of fact, the app doesn't seem to know what the default should be.

The Mastodon app is so terrible. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and yet the app is slow, laggy, has menus in weird places and is generally terrible.
I feel like it adds a layer of confusion onto the platform.
This app is holding the platform back.
Absolutely love @trunksapp! It's got a gorgeous UI, great quality of life features like clear threading and the ability to choose how you engage with threads. And lots of other small but nice to have features.
ugh, moved to Safari to view mastodon because chrome has no audio for videos. I'm not liking how Safari handles this website. In advanced web view the home column jumps when updating and the notifications column doesn't update unless I refresh the page. The hunt for the right browser continues. Or app.
What Computer app has the best interface for viewing multiple columns? (a la Tweetdeck)
New app update! v1.28 now adds all mentions in parent post (not only the post author) to the compose view in the create screen (i.e. reply all by default).
It also makes it easier to delete mentions while writing (see attached video).

Is there at least one other #fediapp App on #iOS that actually works than the #mastodonapp ? I got no timeline update since hours on #IceCubesApp and #ivoryapp . had problems with #metatext and the two others with notifications as well #fedihelp

New app update! Thanks everyone for your feedback.
- New OLED theme (pure black).
- Now it asks for notification permissions only once.
- Crash fix in media captioning.
Also, did I mention that replies can be collapsed by a long press (see attached video).

1. Januar. Dieses Jahr bereits zwei sehr lange und wichtige und Ernste Toots als Entwurf verloren, einer wegen Absturz Mastodon App, der andere weil Abschaltung wegen leerem Akku.
Es wäre schön, wenn die @Mastodon app #mastodonapp Entwürfe speichern würde.
Was aber die Abstürze betrifft: die Entwickler haben da wirklich schlimmen Schrott programmiert. Eine try{} catch () Klausel würde schon reichen, oder synchronized, oder eine Prüfung der Array size.
Wenn der Editor ein custom-emoji oder usernamen per vervollständigungsvorschlag anbieten, ändern sich die Array sizes dynamisch, es kommt durch einen Index-Zugriff ins Nichts zu einer NPE und sofortigem hartem crash der App - nix graceful. Und das seit Monaten, über mehrere Updates der App. @Gargron
