Le voici arrivé, tout beau, tout neuf !
Les Cahier Gutenberg sont de retour !
merci @gutenberg_TeX
Le week-end arrive bien pour me plonger dedans.
#LaTeX
My brain is absolutely fried.
Today is the last day of coursework submissions for this semester. What a hectic month.
DNN with PyTorch, Brain model parallelisation with MPI, SYCL and OpenMP offloading of percolation models, hand optimizing serial codes for performance.
Two submissions due today. Submitted one and finalising my report for the second one.
Definitely having a pint after this
[1/3] #DANTE2025 Friday starts with “Storytelling with Frank [Mittelbach]”. He admits that it took a while for himself to realize how bad we treated users relying on assisting technology like screen readers! He tries to give a rough overview of this impression by playing screen reader recordings of an untagged document compared to the work the tagging-project did so far. The examples can be found at https://latex3.github.io/tagging-project/documentation/wtpdf/fulldoc
#DANTE2025 is starting at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt.
Mr. Lion and me are extremly curious about discussions and expecting a boost concerning tagging and accesibility of #TeXLaTeX.
We already realized yesterday, that there is too little time for all the projects we are working on… but … we are all trying our best.
I will try to sum up the talks below this.
EN in first answer.
So what I'm learning after 3 years on Mastodon is that FOSS nerds all have a LaTeX kink.
@typst
I've been suspecting that something faster and "easier" than #LaTeX (no hard feelings: TeX is enormously old and has lasted really long!) must be possible -- thank you for confirming that.
I get the utility of web-based collaboration, but ... I really really want a desktop GUI because sending each button press across half the world is *so wasteful*, not to mention privacy issues. The only maintained desktop app costs money, looks spartan and seems to use #Electron
Looks #LibreOffice is the clear winner from that poll with about 80% of the vote.
Also looks like correcting a hashtag resets the #poll. Still figuring stuff out here on #mastodon.

> I'm using Google Docs for resumes and cover letters. It's quick and easy, but I don't love the finished product. #LaTeX offers control, but adds friction during revisions.

Ah, #latex and German

Unicode pictograms to mark progressively rising values:
https://www.draketo.de/anderes/unicode-icon-progressions
For Ace Maths I searched for unicode icons to mark progression: show that you’re getting better. Since I found a lot of different options (from simple sparklines to a huge list of animals), I’m collecting them in this article.
Includes a tip for somewhat better, automatic #unicode "image" suppport #LaTeX with plain #pdflatex / #pdftex
