Michael Meckler<p>I regularly fill out the crossword puzzle in the newspaper. I prefer crossword answers to be standard words rather than proper nouns, texting abbreviations, or slang. So I was particularly dismayed this week at a puzzle with the following two clues and answers: 'Meeting, informally' (answer: SESH) and 'Strangers, slangily' (answer: RANDOS).</p><p>I have never heard anyone use these 'words'. "We've been there," we both said, because we have.</p><p>This is Djúpalónssandur and that's the glacier-topped Snæfellsjökull volcano in the distance. Yes, I know I'm watching from my sofa in front of the TV too. Yes, I'm still going to watch it.</p>
