What's great about #Mastodon for all users is if whoever is developing the original Mastodon software is over run by a #fascist, the instances themselves cannot be affected.

Since Mastodon is both #opensource and #federated someone can #fork Mastodon and make their own version of the code with own features. Servers can't be taken down just because the original devs don't like what you say about something. Unlike with that #WordPress scenario.

However, local #laws in a server hosts country plays as a major targeting bully.

What laws would particularly target a majority of Mastodon servers one might ask

any anti #dei laws. Most servers are pro minority individuals which I do appreciate. However, where you host your server is as important is when you host your server, where.

Today is the day. #Puppet is dead, long live #OpenVox

Background: Perforce bought Puppet in 2022, betrayed the #FOSS community and changed the license. This resulted in a #fork called #OpenVoxProject, but old puppet releases still worked, so many #DevOps did not care enough to switch.

Yesterday the release key for the free puppet packages expired. It is unlikely that they will renew those keys.

It's time to move on. https://voxpupuli.org/openvox/ is a drop-in replacement. #FOSS saved the day again!
