The microphone seems to be recognized, but I will have to test for functionality. Another big thing will be moving away from the <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/AffinitySuite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#AffinitySuite</a>. The comfort of having everything in one place will be missed...1/4

Ázzuen ben Aslan 🔜 EFWell, I found out now that Audacity under Linux seems to have a problem with PIPEWIRE audio and only the ALSA drivers work with that app. I also found Tenacity and a few others that don't have this limitation and do work with PIPEWIRE audio. However, I get it only to work with 1 channel audio (aka Mono). But I want Stereo. Why does this not to be possible!?? I even found a feature packed software "Ardour" which looks like it could do tons more than I need... but guess what: I don't get it properly to work or perhaps it's me who's too dumb to use it... sigh If all fails I will give Audacity for Windows under Wine a chance. No this clearly makes no sense at all but so far it is the best idea I had so far. However, I would like to be able to also record other audio sources, which are available via PIPEWIRE. However, the Audio settings / Interface dropdown has ony this one entry: ALSA. My second thought was: if that can be done by eye then maybe it could be automated. The process would be: <ol><li>Use <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/ffmpeg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ffmpeg</a> to convert the podcast to a raw stream of sound samples in a form that's trivial to read in your favourite programming language. Maybe you'd mix down to mono to make subsequent processing even easier. Maybe you'd reduce the sample rate to save processing cycles.</li><li>Write a bit of code to detect higher volume or more compressed audio (or whatever) and generate a second ffmpeg command to trim out the adverts, leaving only the programme. </li><li>Run that command.</li><li>Throw away the temporary file. (Or use a pipe in steps 1 and 2 so that the temporary file doesn't exist and you can run multiple programs in parallel.)</li></ol>But this does all depend on how obnoxiously the adverts have been produced. If they're sonically similar to the programme then this obviously won't work.
