Remember the time I had trouble transferring my last domain away from google? It still persists.
The domain is at GoDaddy via Google. To transfer away, I need an Authorization Code. To get that, I log into domain settings, and start the transfer. To get the code, for the other 2 domains, they sent an email with a code as a kind of double check. It worked, done, great.
For this one? The code in the email didn't work. I switched to 2FA. Throws random errors still.
SUCCESS!
Thanks to helpful people of the Fediverse, I am now in posession of the Authorization Code. Turns out I had to disable WHOIS Privacy.
Now, I do have a few questions:
Why wasn't that a problem in previous domains? Ok, those were .in and .com, this is an .org, but .com & .org should have same reqs.
Why can't the UI tell me that? Instead of just popping an error to phone support?
Relaunched the process on the Gandi side, obtained another Authorization Code, and this time, it went through. I got the usual mail from Google that I can approve or reject the transfer.
Nice!
Even nicer, that this time, the link they gave worked, and I could approve the transfer prior to the automatic approval after 6 days. So the domain's now away from Google's clutches. Or should be, in like 15-30 minutes.
